Aquatic Directors (2 positions)

Details:
Nature and Scope:Reporting to the Program Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring excellence in member service through the administration of all aquatic programs.

Responsibilities:
Ensure the provision of a safe aquatic environment through the hiring, supervision and training of lifeguards, instructors and volunteers;
Develop, control and evaluate the aquatic area budget including the purchase of equipment;
Evaluate and monitor the consistent delivery of aquatic services;
Provide leadership training for all aquatic staff through role modeling and coaching;
Represent Eau Claire YMCA or Crowfoot YMCA on the Association Aquatic Workgroup;
Communicate effectively in a variety of settings; and
Offer support to the rest of the Program department and branch as needed including performing Duty Manager shifts, conducting subsidy appointments and campaigning for the YMCA Strong Kids campaign.

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Physical Education, Kinesiology or a related degree preferred;
Minimum two years aquatic supervisory experience;
YMCA Swim Instructor;
Current Standard First Aid and Basic Rescuer CPR;
NLS Instructor preferred;
YMCA Canada Aquatic Trainer certification preferred; and
YMCA/AFLCA Aquatic Instructor certification is an asset.

Job Title: Fitness Supervisor
Department: Programs and Services
Report to: Sport and Leisure Services Manager

Position Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of the fitness centre, group fitness room, indoor track, and fitness programs offered by MacDonald Island Park. Responsibilities includes fitness programming, staff scheduling and training, responding to the guests and community needs, promoting membership opportunities, as well providing resources and support to guests and staff at MacDonald Island Park.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with budget projections and monitor expenditures while achieving maximum levels of service to our guests, user groups, and staff
• Responsible for the daily supervision, leadership, task assigning, and scheduling of the fitness centre staff, fitness class instructors, personal trainers, nutritionists, and contractors
• Identify staff training needs and conduct orientations as necessary
• Assist with guest services including, but not limited to: check-ins, selling day passes, cash outs, reconciliations
• Create programs for fitness centre users, group fitness participants, corporate fitness groups, various interest groups, and MacDonald Island Park staff
• Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the fitness industry
• Assist with developing and implementing fitness centre policies for staff and for users
• Complete additional projects as assigned by the Sport and Leisure Services Manager and/or the Director of Programs and Services
• Create programs for fitness centre users, group fitness participants, corporate fitness groups, various interest groups, and MacDonald Island Park staff
• Ensure the safety of staff members and fitness users and evaluate systems and procedures on a regular basis

Qualifications Required:
Mandatory:
• Current Standard First Aid/AED certificate or equivalent (including CPR C)
• Fitness Leadership Certification (AFLCA) and Can-Fit-Pro or Certified Personal Trainer (CPT)
• Degree or Diploma in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience
• Minimum 3 years experience working in the fitness industry, preferably in a supervisory position

Desirable:
• Nutritional consultation
• Customer service and sales experience
• Team building program experience

Knowledge & Education:
• Strong background in fitness, programming and the health industry
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and oral skills
• Excellent knowledge of the operation of weight training and cardiovascular equipment, physical fitness, physiology, and anatomy
• Good working knowledge in regards to a variety of sports and understanding basic strategy, muscle movement, and muscle development to specific sports
• Ability to successfully evaluate program successes and failures
• Possess strong coordination and leadership skills
• Strong organizational skills and experience in risk management
• Ability to work with Word, Excel, and Outlook, and PowerPoint

Working Conditions:
This position requires full-time work of 40 hours per week and a flexible schedule including early morning, late night and weekends. The salary for this position is $60,000.00 annually plus COLA and company sponsored benefits.

Description

The Neighbourhood and Community Development Branch of the Community Services Department is seeking a Community Recreation Coordinator to provide community, organizational and program development services. Some of the general job functions of the Community Recreation Coordinator are as follows:

• Facilitating community groups in identifying and meeting their recreational, community, and parkland development needs through needs assessment, planning processes, resource development, problem-solving, and partnership development.
• Providing resource information including grant programs.
• Initiating training opportunities in leadership and organizational development.
• Developing community-based year round program plans.
• Communicating information and referral to groups and the general public.
• Presenting public education on identified recreation issues.
• Actively participating in the development of processes, systems and/or programs within the Branch.

Job Requirements

• University graduation in Recreation Administration or related degree.
• A minimum of five years experience in the field of community recreation with demonstrated competency in community/organizational development, recreation program development and the provision of information/referral.
• Project management and needs assessment experience is an asset.
• Experience working with multi-cultural and high needs groups is an asset.
• Strong analytical and group facilitation skills.
• Grant application and proposal writing skills.

The City of Camrose is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Facilities Operations Supervisor with the Facilities Section of the Community Services Department. Under the direction of the Facilities Director, this permanent full-time position will oversee and direct the day to day operations and maintenance of all City owned buildings and recreation facilities under the jurisdiction of the Community Services Department.

FUNCTIONS:
• Direct/supervise facility staff in the day to day operations and maintenance of all City owned buildings and recreation facilities.
• Provide customer driven, service oriented, clean, safe and well maintained recreation facilities serving health and wellness needs of the community.
• Schedule, and supervise Facility Section operational staff.
• Implement and monitor the City of Camrose Health & Safety Program.
• Assist with the formulation and management of annual operational and capital budgets.
• Assist in the design and implementation of fully integrated facility maintenance program for all city buildings.
• Provide ongoing communication with the public and organizations that access/utilize City of Camrose facilities and sponsored programs
• Serve as primary contact in the absence of the Facilities Director.
• Ensure all City policies and safety regulations are adhered.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Previous work experience in a municipal recreation facility operations and maintenance with a strong understanding of facility systems, including but not limited to, HVAC, refrigeration ice plants, plumbing and electrical.
• Diploma in facilities management from an accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a supervisory capacity.
• Reliable with a strong work ethic and ability to work both independently or in a team setting.
• Ability to communicate (verbal and written form) tactfully with facility patrons and general public.
• Upon hiring, the successful candidate will be required to provide a class 5 drivers license abstract and a police criminal record check.

HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work will generally be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some flexibility to work evenings or weekends as job dictates.

SALARY RANGE: The salary for this position will be based on the experience of the successful candidate.
