Description:
The Neighbourhood and Community Development Branch of the Community Services Department is seeking a Community Recreation Coordinator to provide community, organizational and program development services. Some of the general job functions of the Community Recreation Coordinator are as follows:

* Facilitating community groups in identifying and meeting their recreational, community, and parkland development needs through needs assessment, planning processes, resource development, problem-solving, and partnership development.
* Providing resource information including grant programs.
* Initiating training opportunities in leadership and organizational development.
* Developing community-based year round program plans.
* Communicating information and referral to groups and the general public.
* Presenting public education on identified recreation issues.
* Actively participating in the development of processes, systems and/or programs within the Branch.

Job Requirements:

* University graduation in Recreation Administration or related degree.
* A minimum of five years experience in the field of community recreation with demonstrated competency in community/organizational development, recreation program development and the provision of information/referral.
* Project management and needs assessment experience is an asset.
* Experience working with multi-cultural and high needs groups is an asset.
* Strong analytical and group facilitation skills.
* Grant application and proposal writing skills.

NOTE:

* A security clearance is a condition of employment. The Check must be completed prior to commencement of employment and is the financial responsibility of the candidate.
* Applicants will be required to arrange their own transportation and where appropriate will be reimbursed in accordance with City of Edmonton policy. This may require the applicant to obtain business use auto insurance.
* Possession of a valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License.

HOURS OF WORK: 33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.

SALARY RANGE: 21M, Salary Grade: 025, $31.398 – $39.421 (Hourly), $2,119.37- $2,660.92 (Bi-Weekly), $55,315.43 – $69,449.95 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.

Community Recreation Coordinator

The Opportunity: The City of St. Albert is hiring a Community Recreation Coordinator who will be responsible for community development support as it relates to the City’s parks and open spaces. The incumbent will liaise with community groups and provide assistance with strategic planning, volunteer recruitment, board development and the planning and development of special initiatives and events that each group undertakes.

The Person: The incumbent will require skills in the areas of: organizational development and effectiveness, community development, strategic and business planning, consensus building and facilitation. This position also demands strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will have a degree or diploma in Recreation Administration, Environmental Science or a related discipline. The successful incumbent should have training in parks management and horticulture and experience in the fields of community development, program development and Parks/Open Space/Naturalization Management disciplines. The candidate will work independently and will need to possess facilitation and project management skills. A Class 5 driver’s license and personal vehicle are required.

Salary: $60,229 – $73,275 per annum. In addition the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive benefit package.

Hours of Work: Compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly.
